This April, we were very happy to welcome two new PhD students to the group.
Yumin Lu is co-supervised with Prof Joao Fonseca in the Department of Materials, and will be working on modelling the effect of extended crystal imperfections (e.g. grain boundaries, stacking faults, surfaces) on the electronic and vibrational properties of colour centres for quantum technology.
Fengyi Song is co-supervised with Dr Ge Wang, also in the Department of Materials, and will be undertaking a combined experimental-computational project. The computational side of Fengyi’s work will focus on modelling high entropy materials which exhibit interesting phenomena (e.g. magnetoresistance) using a variety of computational methods.
It’s great to have both Yumin and Fengyi join the team, and further expand the scope of our research in defects for quantum technology and high entropy materials!
